This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.
• Act as the main regulatory contact, collaborating with legal counsel as necessary, for all supervisory examinations, inquiries, and enforcement issues involving the CFPB, FTC, state attorneys general, state banking regulators, and other relevant agencies, managing the entire exam process and remediation.
• Track developments in federal and state regulations, rulemaking, and enforcement trends, converting regulatory changes into clear, actionable guidance for the organization.
• Supervise state lending licensure, which includes applications, renewals, and market expansion initiatives.
• Direct enterprise consumer protection programs, such as UDAAP and Fair Lending, managing risk assessments, compliance testing, marketing and product evaluations, and regulatory analysis.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant federal and state consumer financial laws that govern personal lending and associated consumer credit products.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Pricing, Technology, and Operations to integrate compliance into lending product development and ongoing business operations.
• Manage the enterprise complaint management program, encompassing CFPB complaint responses, root cause analysis, trend reporting, and utilizing complaint insights to mitigate regulatory and consumer risks.
• Maintain a comprehensive third-party compliance oversight program, which includes due diligence and ongoing monitoring of vendors, service providers, and marketing partners.
• Design and oversee role-specific compliance training programs and metrics, while promoting a robust speak-up culture within the organization.
• Provide consistent compliance reporting to executive leadership and the Board of Directors, highlighting regulatory developments, risk assessments, examination results, and program effectiveness.
• Participate as a key member of enterprise governance and risk committees, which include those responsible for risk management, credit policy, and product governance.
• Build, lead, and expand a high-performing compliance organization, aligning team structure, priorities, and resources with business growth and regulatory expectations.
• Over 12 years of progressive compliance experience in consumer financial services, with at least 5 years in an executive or senior leadership position overseeing enterprise compliance programs and teams.
• In-depth knowledge of CFPB regulations and federal/state consumer protection laws, including UDAAP, Fair Lending (ECOA/Reg B), TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA, SCRA, MLA, and GLBA.
• Demonstrated experience leading CFPB and state regulatory examinations, enforcement actions, and remediation initiatives within a consumer lending or fintech context.
• Strong capabilities in risk assessment, monitoring, and issue management, with an ability to balance regulatory rigor with business expansion.
• Executive presence with the capacity to effectively communicate complex compliance risks and regulatory updates to the CEO, Board of Directors, regulators, and cross-functional partners.
• Proven success in building and scaling compliance programs and teams, influencing stakeholders without direct authority, and fostering a robust culture of compliance.
• Bachelor's degree required; J.D., MBA, CRCM, CAMS, or equivalent credentials are preferred.
