Senior Backend Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Facilitate clear communication with client project stakeholders concerning project updates and technical recommendations.

• Spearhead the design and development of backend services and APIs utilizing Python and the Pyramid framework on AWS.

• Architect and oversee PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and performance enhancements for clinical-grade data.

• Construct and sustain AWS infrastructure including Kubernetes (EKS), Lambda, API Gateway, and cloud-to-cloud integration patterns.

• Establish backend coding standards, API design patterns, security best practices, and testing methodologies.

• Mentor and support backend engineers, fostering engineering excellence within the team.

• Participate in agile software development practices such as stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and estimation.

• Independently manage project delivery within the established architecture, showcasing autonomy from initial concept through to deployment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of backend engineering experience, including over 2 years in a lead or technical lead capacity.

• Proven experience and expertise in designing and implementing scalable backend services and APIs using Python.

• Experience in architecting PostgreSQL databases with robust skills in schema design, query optimization, and data integrity.

• Familiarity with AWS services such as Kubernetes (EKS), Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, IAM, and cloud-to-cloud integrations.

• Strong grasp of SOLID principles, Object-Oriented Programming, and clean architecture patterns.

• Knowledge of OWASP security practices.

• Proficient in English.
