RN Clinical Documentation Specialist Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.

📋 Description

• Act as a bridge between customers of the CDI Department and CDI Leadership.

• Serve as a clinical and technical resource for CDS staff, addressing queries and offering guidance on non-administrative matters.

• Monitor, report, prioritize, and redirect daily departmental workflow under the direction of leadership.

• Generate operational reports and relay key metrics to leadership at designated intervals.

• Coordinate special record reviews, projects, and customer requests.

• Evaluate medical records upon patient admission and throughout their stay for documentation thoroughness and accuracy.

• Maintain effective communication with both internal and external customers.

• Offer consultation and education to departmental personnel.

• Contribute to and engage in physician/hospital performance improvement initiatives.

• Assist the department manager with specific departmental projects.

• Carry out other related responsibilities as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Completion of a formal nursing training program.

• A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an acute care environment, which includes Clinical Documentation Improvement experience.

• Advanced clinical proficiency and comprehensive understanding of complex disease processes.

• Extensive clinical experience in an inpatient setting.

• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Louisiana.

• Proficient computer skills and manual dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.

• Skilled in using Windows-style applications and keyboard functions.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capable of presenting information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.

• Broad clinical knowledge with an understanding of the pathology and physiology of various disease processes.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Self-motivated and directed.

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.

• Certification as a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) is preferred.
