Regulatory Compliance Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• This position will report directly to the Deputy Head of Compliance and collaborate closely with business, technology, marketing, and legal teams to perform compliance assessments and establish compliance and risk mitigation requirements for the organization.

• Furthermore, this role will monitor cryptocurrency-related transactions and alerts, conduct ongoing screening of clients, evaluate potential risks, and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal standards.

• Actively identify and communicate deficiencies or gaps in regulatory compliance; offer guidance in developing alternative solutions or implementing corrective actions.

• Provide comprehensive support on all regulatory and compliance issues, including periodic reporting and submissions to regulatory authorities.

• Keep accurate and current records of regulatory obligations and submissions.

• File internal SARs/STRs and other necessary documentation as required.

• Assist in outsourcing compliance in line with existing regulations.

• Help ensure that AML programs align with current industry best practices and maintain efficiency and effectiveness in internal controls.

• Conduct compliance risk assessment programs, such as Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”) risk assessments and Privacy Risk assessments.

• Support the development and improvement of compliance policies, procedures, and controls to meet regulatory standards.

• Maintain the Company’s regulatory and compliance documentation, including the Company's KYC and AML policies and procedures to ensure they remain current and comply with both internal and regulatory requirements.

• Assist with compliance-related projects, including policy reviews, audits, and gap analyses.

• Aid in designing and implementing process enhancements to improve compliance effectiveness.

• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, finance, legal, technology) on cross-functional initiatives that have regulatory implications.

• Provide compliance insights and oversight on new business initiatives, products, or services.

• Offer compliance guidance to business units to ensure alignment with regulatory and internal requirements.

• Participate in compliance training and awareness initiatives throughout the organization.

• Assist in addressing internal and external audit requests.

• Handle other ad hoc tasks as required by the Chief Compliance Officer.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in operational and regulatory compliance.

• Experience with or an understanding of cryptocurrency, whether professionally or personally, is an advantage.

• Experience in regulatory reporting to authorities is a plus.

• Strong understanding of AML/CFT, KYC compliance, compliance testing, and fraud detection/mitigation.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities.

• Capacity to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong organizational skills and problem-solving capabilities.

• Availability to work from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. MYT, Monday to Friday.
