This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, develop, and grow a team of over 3 data scientists and governance experts.
• Take ownership of enhancing performance monitoring, drift monitoring, fair lending assessments, governance documentation, validation, model inventory, and change management.
• Establish the long-term vision for the model governance function, including priorities for automation and standardization.
• Manage governance-related partnerships across Data Science, Engineering, Partner Success, and Sales.
• Oversee direct customer relationships, conduct customer-facing meetings, and collaborate with model risk teams at banks and fintechs.
• Assist customers in promoting adoption while adhering to governance standards.
• Create validation reports, governance documentation, and performance summaries for leadership, customers, auditors, and regulators.
• Monitor governance findings through remediation and oversee the team’s roadmap.
• Engage in hands-on governance and risk tasks as necessary and provide mentorship to the team.
• Develop and scale the model governance function in alignment with the company’s growth.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in model risk management, model validation, model governance, or quantitative risk.
• Demonstrated experience in building or scaling a governance/risk team.
• At least 4 years of experience in people management.
• Proven track record of building and scaling model risk or governance teams.
• Extensive knowledge of model governance within financial institutions.
• Familiarity with SR 11-7, SR 26-2, OCC guidance, fair lending, and the regulatory environment.
• Direct experience in validating or governing ML/statistical models in a regulated context.
• Proficient in reading models, interrogating methodologies, and collaborating effectively with data scientists.
• Working knowledge of Python and strong proficiency in SQL.
• Excellent analytical skills, particularly using Excel/Google Sheets.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related STEM field.
• Must possess legal authorization to work and reside in the United States.
• Nice to have: experience in fraud, identity verification, credit risk, or financial risk models.
• Nice to have: experience in supporting model governance with banks or regulated financial institutions.
• Nice to have: familiarity with AWS and GitHub.
• Nice to have: a master’s degree in a quantitative field.
