Health & Medicine Section Editor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage Content Development for the Health and Medicine Topic Page vertical at 1440 (approximately 90% of the role).

• Strategically plan, create, and maintain topic pages within the Health and Medicine category.

• Craft accessible and informative explainers for various topics in the Health and Medicine sector.

• Curate top-notch resources from the internet pertaining to Health and Medicine for 1440 readers to discover and engage with.

• Supervise the creation and distribution of a weekly Health and Medicine-focused email for 1440 Topics readers, targeting an audience of over 100,000.

• Collaborate with editorial and social media teams to produce multimedia content related to each topic (videos, podcasts, etc.).

• Position 1440 as a thought leader in the field through developed content and potential public engagements (speaking opportunities, interviews, etc.).

• Assist in crafting and executing strategies to share Health and Medicine content with broader audiences beyond the existing 1440 readership.

• Ensure current Health and Medicine topic pages are kept up-to-date and relevant (i.e., staying informed on excellent new resources for curation).

• Support the overarching mission, products, and strategy of 1440 (approximately 10% of the role).

• Participate in weekly calls with both small and full teams.

• Identify opportunities to integrate 1440 Topics with the core product.

• Master the editorial voice of 1440 and effectively translate it to social media in an engaging manner.

• Stay informed about trends and algorithms to enhance brand support.

• Regularly and efficiently report key performance indicators (KPIs) to the 1440 team.

• Contribute to ongoing improvements, frequently test assumptions, and help shape the company culture.

• Bachelor's Degree.

• 3+ years of relevant experience in writing and curating within the Health and Medicine field (or a related journalism role).

• Exceptional research abilities and the capacity to simplify complex topics for a non-technical audience.

• An inquisitive mindset and a passion for continuous learning and growth.

• Proven track record in writing educational content for an expanding audience.

• A desire to contribute to and cultivate the culture of a rapidly growing startup.

• Capacity for creative thinking and problem-solving within a small team setting.
