This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Cultivate proactive relationships with policymakers, regulators, central banks, and financial intelligence units pertinent to the Company’s product and service offerings.
• Track regulatory changes affecting Tether and its affiliate companies within the region.
• Act as the company's representative during consultations, workshops, industry roundtables, and regulatory discussions.
• Draft briefing documents, comment letters, and policy submissions that align with the overarching global regulatory strategy.
• Recognize and effectively seize opportunities to influence emerging frameworks in a manner that is sensitive to risk and oriented towards innovation.
• Provide practical risk and regulatory insights to internal stakeholders, including legal, product, compliance, risk, and commercial teams.
• Assist in enterprise-level planning for new products or expansions into the specified countries, offering guidance on regulatory limitations and opportunities.
• Contribute to internal reporting and executive summaries regarding policy risks and the regulatory landscape in the region.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in governmental affairs, regulatory affairs, or legal roles, preferably within the financial services or crypto-asset sectors in Japan.
• Proven experience in engaging with regulators or government entities, advocating and advising in a regulatory capacity, with a track record of achieving favorable policy outcomes for an organization.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with the skill to distill complex regulatory subjects for audiences without technical backgrounds.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple stakeholders across different regions and time zones.
• A strong team collaborator, fully committed to engaging with key stakeholders within our company and with partners. Must be a proactive professional who can work both collaboratively and independently. Proficient in English.
