Editorial Trainee

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in a distinctive, fully remote editorial training program that is stipend-paid.

• Delve into various facets of editorial work within a six-week Sandbox environment.

• Receive two weeks of mentorship focused on developmental editing.

• Undertake two weeks dedicated to professional development.

• Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the daily responsibilities of an acquisitions editor.

• Enhance essential editorial skills through practical experience.

• Collaborate directly with the Editorial Team on a live project.

• Take part in scheduled online sessions on Mondays and Fridays.

• Fulfill flexible offline training hours.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a resident of the United States.

• Available to participate remotely for 15–20 hours each week.

• Must be available for scheduled online hours on Monday from 9am to 12pm CST and Friday from 9am to 10am CST.

• Capable of completing 10–15 flexible offline hours per week.

• Previous experience in publishing is not mandatory.

• A strong understanding of books and the broader book community is highly advantageous.

• Familiarity with genres, recent competitive titles, marketing copy, and book jacket copy is a significant plus.

• Proven project management and creative skills acquired through work, community involvement, or general life experiences.

• Submission of a resume and cover letter is required.

• The cover letter must express interest in the Sourcebooks Outreach Fellowship: Editorial Training Program and explain why enhancing accessibility in publishing is vital.

• Must have access to reliable internet capable of supporting Microsoft Teams meetings.
