Compliance Rule Tuning Specialist – Transaction Monitoring

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Singapore.

📋 Description

• Create, enhance, and optimize SQL-based transaction monitoring rules to identify suspicious or high-risk activities.

• Design and construct data tables and components that support robust rule frameworks, ensuring both scalability and clarity.

• Evaluate alerts produced by rules to adjust thresholds, minimize false positives, and enhance detection accuracy.

• Collaborate with MLROs, compliance officers, and risk teams to grasp requirements and translate them into effective, feasible monitoring rules.

• Provide constructive feedback and engage senior stakeholders persuasively when proposed rules or concepts by MLROs are impractical or counterproductive.

• Clearly document rule logic, data sources, and tuning methodologies to ensure audit readiness and facilitate team understanding.

• Continuously assess the performance of rule sets and modify them to address emerging risks or changes in regulations.

• Assist with ad hoc queries and reporting through advanced SQL scripting related to compliance investigations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.

• Strong expertise in SQL with demonstrated experience in constructing complex queries and managing data structures.

• Solid understanding of AML regulations, transaction monitoring concepts, and compliance requirements within the crypto or financial services sectors.

• Practical experience in designing and tuning rule-based transaction monitoring systems, with a focus on accuracy and operational efficiency.

• Ability to confidently and diplomatically challenge and persuade senior stakeholders, including MLROs, to ensure rules are compliant and operationally viable.

• Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Experience in fintech, crypto compliance, or financial services compliance environments is a significant advantage.
