Compliance Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the AML program from start to finish. Adapt current US frameworks to comply with LFPIORPI obligations, act as the main contact for the UIF and SAT, and manage the daily operations including KYC, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and investigations.

• Implement complaints and issues management specifically for Mexico. Transform the US playbook into a version suitable for Mexico — ensure both programs are operational and well-documented.

• Develop the regulatory compliance framework in conjunction with the AML core. Ensure policies are in line with CONDUSEF, CNBV, and PROFECO; keep track of regulatory changes and inform the Mexico leadership team of any potential issues ahead of time.

• Collaborate with the collections team on compliance matters related to consumer interactions. Ensure that collections practices — including customer communications, third-party vendor oversight, and operations — adhere to relevant Mexican consumer protection laws.

• Manage compliance for the credit card launch. Align third-party expectations from external partners, address any gaps, and ensure Tilt MX is ready for compliance ahead of the product launch.

• Maintain an audit-ready program. Conduct regular risk assessments, keep documentation updated, and serve as the definitive source for Mexico's compliance status.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in compliance, with at least 3 years within the financial services or fintech sectors.

• Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Mexican financial regulations, especially regarding digital lending, AML/CFT (LFPIORPI), and consumer protection (CONDUSEF, CNBV, PROFECO).

• Proven experience in managing AML/CFT programs, which includes KYC, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and regulatory reporting (such as UIF reporting obligations).

• Background in consumer lending products — understanding the regulatory landscape is crucial, as it differs from commercial or institutional finance.

• Proficiency in both Spanish and English; daily operations will be conducted in a Spanish-speaking business environment.

• Experience in adapting compliance programs to new regulatory environments — you understand when to implement a US playbook entirely and when local requirements necessitate a different approach.

• A mindset of someone who has led the compliance function, not just participated in it. You foster trust with business teams, proactively address challenges, and differentiate between "we can't do this" and "here's how we can do this safely."
