Compliance Lawyer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Deliver expert legal and regulatory guidance on AML/CTF responsibilities in accordance with relevant regulatory standards.

• Assist in the formulation, execution, and upkeep of compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures.

• Observe and analyze regulatory changes within the financial services sector, fin-tech, and AML/CTF legislation.

• Perform compliance risk assessments and contribute to internal audits and regulatory reporting.

• Evaluate and provide counsel on KYC/CDD processes, transaction monitoring systems, and reporting of suspicious activities.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including legal, product, and technology, to ensure seamless compliance integration.

• Oversee and coach junior compliance personnel, ensuring high-quality deliverables and fostering professional growth.

• Report to senior compliance leadership, offering updates on compliance risks, violations, and strategies for mitigation.

• Utilize legal technology and compliance tools to improve efficiency and monitoring capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; admission to practice is necessary.

• 5–10 years of experience in compliance, regulatory law, or financial services law.

• Strong knowledge of AML/CTF compliance frameworks is crucial.

• Experience in fin-tech and/or banking sectors is highly preferred.

• Proven ability to supervise or mentor junior team members.

• Solid understanding of compliance systems, reg-tech tools, and technology-driven environments.

• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.

• Capability to operate independently in a remote environment while collaborating with global teams.
