Building Services Engineer – Building Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Assess M&E designs for adherence to building regulations, identify design non-compliances and risks, and collaborate with the design team to create the most appropriate design solution to meet client needs.

• Inspect mechanical and electrical building services installations on-site to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and project specifications.

• Conduct benchmark inspections related to M&E items.

• Coordinate inspections and compliance activities throughout all phases of the project.

• Perform site inspections and oversee construction quality, workmanship, and regulatory compliance throughout the duration of the project.

• Work alongside architects, engineers, contractors, and specialist consultants to address technical and compliance challenges.

• Evaluate drawings, specifications, ancillary certificates, and project documentation.

• Review technical submissions as needed for projects.

• Gather and review quality documentation, handover records, and witness Testing and Commissioning of M&E systems to confirm operation and cause-and-effect relationships.

• Maintain precise project records, reports, and quality tracking systems.

• Assist in the preparation and management of inspection plans and certification records.

• Monitor project progress and ensure accurate compliance documentation throughout project delivery.

• Offer technical guidance regarding building services systems, regulations, and standards.

• Foster and sustain robust client and stakeholder relationships while delivering high-quality consultancy services.

• Lead, participate in, and contribute to project meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.

• Strong expertise in mechanical and electrical building services design, construction, or consultancy.

• Extensive on-site experience with a solid understanding of construction and installation processes.

• Excellent technical knowledge of Building Regulations, BCAR requirements, and construction compliance procedures.

• Proven experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and construction stakeholders.

• Proficient in reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.

• Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Capability to manage multiple projects while upholding high standards of quality and compliance.

• Proactive mindset with strong attention to detail and a commitment to professional standards.

• Chartered Engineer status or progression towards chartership (preferred).

• Experience in fulfilling the Assigned Certifier role on projects, including inspections and certification activities under BCAR (preferred).

• Background in providing technical advisory or quality assurance/quality control services on projects (preferred).

• Experience in commercial, residential, healthcare, or industrial sectors (preferred).

• Familiarity with commissioning, testing, and handover processes for building services systems (preferred).

• Knowledge of BIM coordination and digital project delivery tools (preferred).

• Leadership or mentoring experience within project or compliance teams (preferred).
