Biostatistician III – Part-time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design of studies and protocols while independently creating statistical analysis plans and drafting the statistical/methods sections for grant applications and protocols.

• Act as the principal or lead statistician for observational, registry, and real-world evidence studies focused on cardiovascular care.

• Develop and implement sophisticated analytic strategies for observational data, utilizing causal-inference, hierarchical/Bayesian methods, and predictive/machine-learning techniques.

• Establish analytic strategies, define endpoints and phenotypes, and implement data-quality frameworks across various studies and real-world data sources.

• Serve as the statistical lead and co-author for published manuscripts.

• Address methodological critiques from peer reviewers, sponsors, and regulators, while justifying analytic decisions.

• Mentor and guide Biostatistician I and II team members, providing technical direction.

• Represent the biostatistics team in cross-functional and external environments as required.

• Conduct coding, develop tables and figures, and execute other essential statistics tasks.


⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree (MS or MPH) with approximately 5–8+ years of relevant applied biostatistics/epidemiology experience, or a doctoral degree (PhD) with around 2–4+ years of similar experience.

• Proven expertise in advanced techniques for observational and real-world data analysis, including causal-inference and confounding-control methods.

• Demonstrated history of independently authoring statistical analysis plans and statistical/methods sections for protocols or grant applications.

• Advanced skills in SAS and/or R, encompassing reproducible analysis and code-review best practices.

• Strong proficiency in SQL.

• Established track record of methodological leadership and contributions to peer-reviewed publications.

• Excellent communication abilities, with a knack for explaining complex methods to non-technical audiences.

• Significant experience in real-world evidence and observational research utilizing EHR, administrative claims, and clinical registries.

• Preferred: experience in cardiovascular research, particularly related to cardiac imaging and procedural studies.

• Preferred: background in grant-funded projects and engagement with industry or foundation sponsors.

• Preferred: understanding of cardiovascular coding systems (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT) and familiarity with CMS data structures and algorithms.

• Preferred: proficiency in Power BI for effective data visualization.

• Preferred: experience in mentoring or supervising statistical staff.

• Ability to work independently while exercising sound methodological judgment.

• Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

• Capability to manage multiple priorities within a fully remote, part-time framework.

• Collaborative mindset and responsive to feedback.

• High integrity and motivation to enhance the quality and outcomes of cardiovascular care.
